First of all, Zelaya is no longer the president. He is a crooked man manipulated by Hugo Chavez. He is a threat his own people and to the United States. He wanted to extend his term; which is not allowed by the Honduran constitution; which he tried to change.
Democracy is entitled to defend itself against those who intend to use in order to destroy its very existence. These is just as true here in the United States as it is in Honduras.

While President Zelaya's actions and public speeches indicate a moderate leftist bent, his actions still lack consistency, even several months after Honduras' entry into ALBA. Zelaya seems content to criticize the United States one day and meet with American officials on migratory reform the next. Meanwhile, the government is undergoing a serious budgetary crisis and massive labor strikes cripple the public sector. These inconsistent, poorly planned policies coupled with Zelaya's attempts at doing away with term limits indicate that Honduras has a long way to go in order to achieve true social change.
