As a person who has been active in my home community in trying to close SOA/WHINSEC, I have just been reading The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein and am convinced that more financial and economic damage has been done in Latin America by the Milton Friedman School of Economics at the University of Chicago, than by SOA/WHINSEC. Both of these operations are under the direction of our CIA and reflect the policies of most of our right wing think tanks as to taking care of business over taking care of people.

Larry, once more, ideological garbage posing as 'research.' Ask Mr. Maliska if he can name one person who has ever been found to have used what he learned at the school to commit any crime. If so, that will be the first one ever found by anyone. Calling anyone a 'graduate' of anyplace when total time of attendance is no more than a few weeks is absurd. Naming those who later committed crimes without any effort to show a cause-effect relationship is blatantly dishonest. Glaring examples-- Roberto Viola and Leopoldo Galtieri were leaders of the Argentine junta in the early '80s. Viola went to Panama in 1972 as the escort for a cadet group; Galtieri attended an Engineer course in 1949 when he was a 23-year-old lieutenant.

it is not a human rights school--it is a military / anti-terrorism / drug interdiction school. curriculum has been added about human rights because of teh belief that the school needed to add that due to the reputation of the school.

If 6.455% of the graduates of a "human rights" school left the school and violated human rights, then something is clearly wrong with the school and its curriculum.
