A remark: "Interestingly, the Brazilian armed forces have not been engaged in combat on its own continent in one way or another since the latter part of the 19th century, when Brazil participated in the War of the Triple Alliance from 1864-1870 against Paraguay."

Author fails to mention the Brazilian Navy Operations during WWII, were more than FORTY U.S. Bases were ALSO stablished *in Brazil* and said bases were VITAL for the supplying Allied Forces in the North African Theater of Operations...

- Not to mention that Brazilian Navy fought *alongside U.S. Navy in the South Atlantic*; where Brazilian Commanders, later on, became in full charge of Convoys protection, thus, freeing the U.S. Navy 4th Fleet [responsible for protecting vital Allied shipping in the U-boat infested South Atlantic] for the Pacific Theater of Operations campaign.

(N.B.: Without the Brazilian Territory one MUST mention: 1. The Brazilian Air Force operated under the USAAF in Italy during WWII and even earned the coveted "Presidential Unit Citation", only accorded to U.S. Military (and two Australian Units). 2. Brazilian Navy - DNOG - Departamento Naval de Operacoes de Guerra - participated in WWI in the African - South Atlantic Theater
