THE SOLUTION TO MEXICO'S CRIME PROBLEM: Require every Mexican citizen to keep and bear arms. (Right now mexico has the strictest gun control laws, but of course the bad guys all have guns anyway) The criminals in Mexico are not powerful because they have guns, but because everyone else does not! Criminals have a monopoly on power. With an armed Mexican population, the corrupt government will not only have the mafia to fear, but the people as well, which according to Thomas Jefferson is necessary for democracy. Gun control has not worked - time to try the wisdom of our constitution, and its Second Amendment.

also if they legalized the drugsa the cartels are trying to smuggle then less people would be murdered and more people would be killing them selves by cocaine and other illicit drugs slowly so therefor the murder rates would drop.. for a while

i personally think that if the U.S. government raided the city of Juarez and blocked it off they could, in time, slow down of even stop the smuggling and greatly reduce murder rates.

Others might be interested in two free resources for those following drug violence and other public security issues in Mexico...

1) A monthly English-language summary of recent rule of law developments in Mexico:

http://www.justiceinmexico.org/news/recent_news.php

2) State-by-state drug violence maps available online:

If drugs were decriminalized in Mexico and the US, the drug cartels and gangs would no longer have a government sponsored and supported black market and would cease to be.
