As an American developer and investor in Panama I keep my eye on what is going on here pretty carefully. There certainly are some disquieting actions being taken by the current administration and I think the assessment of U.S. government involvement is not far from the mark. The bright side is the people are reacting very negatively regarding these actions and there is an election coming in May of next year. The political parties are already gearing up and this adds a lot of ammunition for making a change in leadership. Until these recent actions the PRD was doing pretty well in the polls and there was growing concern among investors that leadership would move more in the direction of Chavez. For more about Panama see http://primapanama.blogs.com/_panama_residential_devel/
