COHA Research Fellow Nominated for Most Censored News Story Award

COHA Research Fellow Mary Tharin was recently selected as a finalist for the Most Censored News Stories of 2008-2009 Award by Project Censored for her article The World Ban and Climate Change: Sustainability or Exploitation?. Hundreds of news stories were nominated this year and Tharin’s has been ranked in the top twenty-five most important under-covered of this year. Over 250 faculty and students at Sonoma State University reviewed her article and voted to include it as a finalist. A synopsis of her article will appear in Chapter 1 of the book Censored 2010: Media Democracy in Action, scheduled for release in October from Seven Stories Press.
