It is just a shame that it will not result in any change, as the US and Colombia will be unwilling to allow any of the 10 000 fighters to go free in Venezuela. As you stated in the article, "potential benefits hinge upon the Bush administration’s willingness to engage in constructive diplomacy." And there you have the problem.... If not, the only other explanation I have is that you've lost your mind. I operate a non-profit in the Colombian frontier of Venezuela. Chavez has been offering a safe haven to FARC for years and they repay this by carrying out their terrorism on Venezuelan citizens. This just goes to show how deeply in cahoots Chavez is with the guerilla forces in Colombia. Who else has an open line to them. The last thing the Venezuelan people and the Colombian refugees who have migrated there need is for the FARC to move in. Many of these people fear for their lives because of FARC and ELN.
