This attention to Cuba will be very welcome. An immediate focus should be how the US responds to the demand from the Hemisphere that Cuba's suspension from the OAS be lifted. The original justification and the political back-up the US created in the Kennedy administration are completely gone. Cuba should be given the chance to reengage with the OAS just as it does with the UN, and as Vietnam did with ASEAN, an important step in its normalization with the US.
